We’ve put together a list of some of the spookiest, spine-tingling and fear-inducing holographic decorations on the market, as well as a few tips.
Let’s take a look at a few ways to turn your regular home into a realistic haunted house.
The AtmosFX Ghostly Apparations Digital Decorations
This is a DVD that comes with a variety of realistic and thrilling Halloween decorations. You can use either your TV or computer monitor or for a truly realistic experience, use a projector. This haunted DVD features a truly haunting experience that is guaranteed to get your heart beating.
You’ll be able to choose from a number of different ghostly apparitions such as:
The Head of the House – A grim-looking ghost of a stern, older gentleman who has an awful habit of losing his head.
Beckoning Beauty – This emits the image of a bride-to-be who seems to be looking for her groom. The exception is that she has a ghastly secret crawling under her skin. It turns out that beauty isn’t skin-deep after all.
Ghoulish Girl – This is the image of a seemingly disturbed girl who is looking for a new playmate… or should we say, victim?
Wrathful Wraith – What’s spookier than a ghostly spirit from the underworld aimlessly wandering the afterlife?
This product contains several different decoration options.
You’ll need a projector to achieve the best results.
The AtmosFX Zombie Invasion
Like the AtmosFX Ghostly Apparitions, the Zombie Invasion gives an equally spine-tingling experience, except uses zombies instead of ghosts. This DVD includes four separate effects that are all sure to have the hairs on your neck standing up.
Zombie Swarm – This effect gives the appearance of a horde of zombies right outside your window, fiercely trying to get through the glass.
Zombie Shadows – This gives the appearance of a large cluster of zombies hiding behind a frosted glass window.
Plaster Disaster – This is an especially spooky effect as it gives the appearance of blood-thirsty zombies clawing and punching their way through a plaster wall.
Zombie Attack – This effect shows a helpless man being overtaken by a cluster of brain-hungry zombies.
Currently, zombies seem to be a fan-favorite.
Rather expensive for a DVD that only contains 4 different effects.
AtmosFX Phantasms Digital Decoration
This is another great way to freak out trick-or-treaters and partygoers alike. It is sure to startle even the bravest souls with the appearance of spirits and ghouls who shriek and levitate. This DVD is a follow-up from the best-selling Ghostly Apparitions series and was truly created from the depths of human-kinds worst nightmares.
This DVD can be displayed using either a TV, monitor or projector to display haunting images on walls or sheets and it even features a haunting soundtrack of spooky music and sound effects. It is optimized to create a holographic effect when displayed on a see-through mesh and has multiple effects that can be looped or manually switched.
This DVD comes with a soundtrack for an added bone-chilling effect.
It is very similar to other AtmosFX products.
Tips for Improving Your Halloween Decoration
While it is easy to buy a few cheap Halloween decorations from your local value store, it’s not really going to give you the best results. The good news is that there are a few things that you can do that can truly give your home a haunted house appearance.
While many of the products that we’ve discussed can be displayed on a TV or monitor, this won’t give you the best results since the TV screen will give away the magic behind the illusion. For best results, you can try using a light-colored sheet or see-through mesh and a projector.
You can use almost anything that is semi-opaque such as a light-colored shower curtain or a cheap plastic tablecloth. The type of the material does not matter so much as that it needs to allow a little bit of light to pass through.
Simply hang the sheet or mesh wherever you wish to display your ghastly apparitions. This works great in windows or doorways since it will give off the illusion that the ghost is standing right there with nothing behind it. Then, once you’ve selected the best spot to hunt, simply aim the projector at the sheet or mesh and turn it on.
While this is a great and realistic way to give the appearance of a haunted house, it might be a little bit too frightening if you are expecting younger children to be knocking on your door. For a more family-friendly display, you can try setting up your project to display your ghostly images on pumpkins sitting in front of a black drop sheet. This will give the pumpkins a haunting appearance that is sure to delight everyone from the kids to the adults.
Finally, if you (for some reason) don’t have access to pumpkins and your home lacks window or doorways, you can always just use a plain white wall to project your haunting images. While this will not give the best or most realistic illusion, it is an acceptable way to get the job done. Many DVD projections will include loops that will project simpler images such as crawling creatures or animals. Their movement should be able to distract from the fact that the image is being displayed on a flat surface and will still give a semi-realistic appearance.
Hopefully, by following these tips, you’ll be able to turn your home into a regular haunted house that will have all the kids in the neighborhood talking for years to come.
